Holbøll A/S
Building tomorrow's infrastructure with down-to-earth solutions
A third-generation Danish civil engineering contractor delivering essential earthworks, rail bridge expansions, and heavy site infrastructure for national corridors, including the multi-billion-euro Fehmarn Belt fixed link connection.
About Holbøll A/S
Established in 1947 by Carl Holbøll and headquartered in Næstved, Denmark, Holbøll A/S has evolved over three generations into one of Denmark’s major infrastructure and civil engineering contractors. Operating across Zealand, the Capital Region, and the Danish islands, Holbøll delivers earthworks, concrete structures, bridge engineering, environmental works, and utility relocation for public authorities including Vejdirektoratet (Danish Road Directorate), Banedanmark (the Danish railway infrastructure manager), Energinet, and municipal bodies.
As an active member of the Danish Railway Contractors Association (Gruppen for Jernbaneentreprenører under Dansk Industri), Holbøll provides essential civil works supporting rail corridors. This work includes line-widening overpass and underpass bridge constructions ensuring uninterrupted road and rail traffic (such as major bridge expansions along the Hillerød corridor), heavy trackside earthworks and drainage, and precision horizontal directional drilling underneath active railway lines.
Holbøll also plays an active role in northern Europe’s largest infrastructure scheme: the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link (Femern Bælt). The firm has delivered major packages on the project, including the comprehensive civil site preparation, drainage networks, and foundation engineering for the primary Rødbyhavn 132/30 kV transformer substation powering both the rail tunnel and high-speed rail lines. With more than 250 skilled employees across its production units and subsidiaries (including Entreprenør Søren Kristiansen A/S and S.E.G. Miljø), Holbøll deploys 3D machine control, Leica Geosystems GPS guidance, and an integrated management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
