Strukton Rail
Today we create tomorrow
Leading European rail infrastructure contractor with over a century of heritage specializing in performance-based rail maintenance, smart sensor monitoring, heavy track renewal, and turnkey transit systems.
About Strukton Rail
Strukton Rail traces its foundational history back to 1921 when it was established as N.V. Spoorwegbouwbedrijf, the internal railway construction and maintenance company of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). Operating as the railway infrastructure backbone of the Strukton Groep, the company has grown into one of Europe’s premier turnkey railway engineering and construction contractors, employing over 3,500 rail specialists across the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, and internationally.
Unlike pure consulting firms, Strukton Rail is a comprehensive builder and technology contractor owning an extensive fleet of specialized heavy rail plant, including automated track-laying trains, high-output ballast cleaners, catenary wiring units, and multi-tie tamping machines. Strukton Rail provides full design-and-build and maintenance services across permanent way track, 1.5 kV DC and 25 kV AC overhead catenary systems, power substations, interlocking, and ERTMS Level 2 train control.
Beyond traditional civil and railway contracting, Strukton Rail is a recognized innovator in digital rail maintenance. Its proprietary POSS predictive asset monitoring system is utilized by rail operators worldwide to monitor the real-time health of point machines, track circuits, and level crossings. Notable delivery references include multi-year performance maintenance contracts across ProRail’s Dutch national network and Trafikverket’s Swedish lines, the turnkey track and electrification of the Amsterdam Metro North-South Line (Noord/Zuidlijn), track renewals on the dedicated Betuweroute freight corridor, and turnkey trackwork for Lines 4, 5, and 6 of the Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia.
