INRAIL – Design & Construction of Infrastructure, Superstructure & Electrification Works
Design and Build procurement for infrastructure, superstructure and electrification works for the Istanbul North Rail Crossing Project (INRAIL).
The procurement covers the construction of approximately 127 km of new railway between Çayırova on the Asian side of Istanbul and Çatalca on the European side, providing a new rail connection across the Bosphorus via the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
The works are divided into four construction lots and include major civil engineering works such as tunnels, viaducts, earthworks and associated structures, together with railway track, superstructure and electrification works.
The new corridor is intended for mixed passenger and freight operations with a design speed of up to 160 km/h. The procurement is being undertaken by the Directorate General of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM) under an internationally financed programme.

Project Overview
The Istanbul North Rail Crossing Project (INRAIL) is a major 127 km greenfield railway project providing a new high-capacity rail connection between the Asian and European sides of Istanbul. The route extends from Çayırova on the Asian side to Çatalca on the European side, crossing the Bosphorus via the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
The project comprises a double-track, electrified and fully signalled railway designed for mixed passenger and freight operations, with a maximum design speed of 160 km/h. It will also provide strategic rail connectivity to Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Istanbul Airport and strengthen Türkiye’s national and international freight corridors.
The project includes extensive tunnelling, bridges and viaducts together with railway infrastructure and electrification works. The current Design & Build procurement is divided into four construction lots covering the corridor from Çayırova to Çatalca. Signalling and telecommunications are excluded from the current construction procurement and are expected to be tendered separately.
