About Orascom Construction PLC
Founded in 1950 by Onsi Sawiris in Egypt and grown into a multi-billion-dollar global EPC giant listed on Nasdaq Dubai and the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), Orascom Construction PLC is one of the premier industrial and infrastructure conglomerates across the Middle East, Africa, and the United States. With a direct workforce exceeding 24,000 employees (and extensive global reach through its 50% ownership in the Belgian BESIX Group and US subsidiaries The Weitz Company and Contrack Watts), Orascom is the contractor of choice for sovereign infrastructure.
Orascom covers the full EPC railway execution spectrum: high-speed electrified passenger and freight lines, ballasted and slab track construction, elevated viaduct structures, stations and depot complexes, power transmission substations, and integrated operations and maintenance (O&M).
In the railway sector, Orascom Construction is delivering some of the largest turnkey mega-contracts on earth. In consortium with Siemens Mobility and The Arab Contractors, Orascom is constructing Egypt’s landmark 2,000-kilometer high-speed electrified railway network (spanning the Green, Blue, and Red lines). Furthermore, in partnership with Alstom, Orascom delivered Africa’s longest driverless monorail network—the 96-kilometer Cairo Monorail (East Nile and 6th of October lines)—alongside major civil packages for Cairo Metro Lines 3 and 4 and regional light rail transit (LRT) corridors.
