About Sacyr S.A.
Founded in 1986 as Sociedad Anónima Caminos y Regadíos (Sacyr) in Madrid, Sacyr S.A. is an international infrastructure concessionaire and general contracting group listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange (IBEX 35). Headquartered in Madrid, the group operates across more than 20 countries, employing over 14,000 professionals across its primary divisions: Sacyr Concesiones (infrastructure concession and lifecycle asset management) and Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras (heavy civil engineering and EPC construction).
In railway infrastructure, Sacyr has been an instrumental contractor for Adif, delivering complex segments of Spain’s high-speed rail (AVE) network. Notable European civil packages include sections of the Basque Y (Y Vasca), the Madrid–Levante high-speed line, the Madrid–Barcelona–French border corridor, and the Mediterranean High-Speed Corridor. The company has delivered major mountain tunnels, viaducts spanning environmentally sensitive terrain, and direct-fixation trackbed civil infrastructure.
Globally, Sacyr excels in structuring and executing rail public-private partnerships (PPP) and turnkey urban transit projects. Through the Grupo Vía Central consortium, Sacyr spearheaded the construction and long-term 25-year concession of the Ferrocarril Central in Uruguay—a 273-kilometer modern heavy freight rail corridor linking the interior to the Port of Montevideo. Additional international transport achievements include the Edinburgh Tram extension (Newhaven line) in Scotland, civil packages for São Paulo Metro Line 15 (monorail) in Brazil, and commuter rail bridge structures in the Americas.
