A RM3.03 billion railway systems contract has been awarded for the Penang Mutiara Line LRT. The package covers the delivery of key railway systems for the new line, including rolling stock, signalling and track-related works, following a competitive procurement process led by MRT Corp.

The Penang Mutiara Line LRT is a major urban rail project being developed to improve public transport connectivity across Penang. The line will connect Silicon Island and key destinations on Penang Island with Penang Sentral on the mainland, including a new marine viaduct crossing the Penang Strait. The project is under construction and forms a major component of Penang’s future integrated public transport network.
